Background:
Scott Lanin
has a business background that he finds useful in his legal practice.
He entered NYU's Stern School of Business in 1982 at the young age of
16 and graduated with honors at the top of his class with a dual
major in Finance and Management. He attended St. John's
University School of Law from 1986 through 1989 where he earned Law
Review honors and graduated at the top of his class. Scott
began his legal practice in 1989 in the Park Avenue office of the
corporate department of Whitman & Ransom, a prestigious
international law firm (now known as Whitman Breed Abbot &
Morgan). Scott was formerly an associate attorney handling commercial
litigation, creditor rights, and mortgage foreclosures with Farrell
Fritz, a premier Long Island law firm. He was also associated with
other boutique firms in Manhattan and in Garden City bankruptcy firm
and and a Chapter 13 trustee.
Prior to
forming Lanin Law P.C. Scott was the managing partner of Lanin &
Moses LLP and its predecessor firms. He has extensive
experience representing indiviuals and businesses, including lenders
and borrowers, mortgagees and mortgagors, corporations, and trustees
in cases involving debt collection, replevin, asset recovery, orders
of seizure (equipment and vehicle leases), mortgage foreclosure and
receivership, contract and real estate disputes, Chapters 7, 13, and
11, and a wide variety of creditor rights and bankruptcy matters,
including adversary proceedings and motions. Scott also gained
extensive experience in the areas of real estate and co-ops as the
First Vice President of the Board of Directors of 1266 Apartment
Corporation, the largest co-op in New Jersey, where he was
responsible for 6 hi-rise buildings, 32 acres of property and over
114 employees.
On a personal
note, Scott is married to Lisa Lanin, and is the proud father of
little Samantha and Jessica. He also holds a second
degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do/ Korean Karate and
is a kickboxing instructor. He has been training since 1984 and
finds martial arts philosophy and concepts useful in his law
practice. Scott is also an accomplished guitarist and
enjoys recording music in his home digital recording studio. He
is also a member of the International Diabetic Athletes Association,
the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the American Diabetes
Association, having been a juvenile diabetic since age 12. He
was the Athletic Director of the New York Diabetes Association summer
camp in upstate New York and is a frequent public speaker on diabetes
and exercise. He has never allowed diabetes to prevent him from
doing anything.

Chenelle is Mr. Lanin's executive assistant and paralegal. She
has a paralegal background, having completed her Associates Degree at
Berkeley College in Manhattan. She handles many aspects of
Lanin Law P.C.'s litigation and bankruptcy practice. She
is trained in several programs, including MS Word, Wordperfect,
Bestcase Bankruptcy Software, MS Excel, and Powerpoint. Her
duties include drafting litigation, bankruptcy, corporate,
foreclosure and real estate documents, new client intake, and court
filings and appearances. She is our client liason,
communicating with clients frequently in our office, by phone and by
email. Clients find her pleasant demeanor and helpful attitude
